Having Trouble Installing Windows 10

Hello all, I recently finished building my first computer. Everything went fine until it came time to install Windows 10. I purchased it brand new from a local shop and it refuses to work. I have the 64 bit version and anytime I can manage to get it to the install screen, it begins to download and when it reaches a certain percentage I suddenly get the blue screen with the sad face saying something has went wrong and it will restart the computer for me. I have been getting a wide array of error messages such as "Critical Structure Corruption", "KMode Exception Not Handled", "System Thread Exception Not Handled", "System Service Exception", "Driver IRQL Not Less or Equal", "Page Fault in Nonpaged Area" and so on. I have not the slightest idea on where to go with this, all input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Normally, errors in the install process are hardware related.. Critical Structure corruption can be the CPU. Some look like driver errors which is different for an install process.

are you overclocked? Did you check to see if there is a new bios for motherboard?

might want to run checks on memory and hard drive. run this on ram: http://www.memtest86.com/ . without hard drive details I can't offer any software right now. Most companies have their own software for testing their drives.

what are specs of the pc?

I completely forgot to post the specs, my apologies! I have a Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H mobo with a Intel Core i5-4460, not overclocked at all. Everything fired up fine but when going through the Windows install everything just went south. According to the bios, it is up to date, looks to be version F2 from late 2015. Haven't messed with any of the settings so I'm pretty stumped at this point.

Anyone?! I can get to the command prompt window and can get through the windows install but when it restarts to finish the process it just returns me to the beginning of the installation.

Got to 96% of files loaded and got BSOD with Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap. It restarted itself and gave me the Fault In Nonpaged Area error, restarted again and now says "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.... An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system." Although nothing was changed.

How do I got about running memtest? I have no use-able OS to download or use it on. Can it be ran externally? Sorry for being so clueless, don't know much of anything when it comes to software.

Alright, it is currently running. How should I go about testing the hard drive? It's a Western Digital. Thanks for all of your help!

Quick update, looks to already be reporting errors on memtest.

After running memtest, within a matter of minutes it quickly found 78 errors. According to the manual (http://images10.newegg.com/UploadFilesForNewegg/itemintelligence/g/mb_manual_ga_b85m_ds3h_e1401382718235.pdf) I should be using slots 1 and 3 (gray ones) correct? Do I have this wrong?

memtest should return ZERO errors.

Try it with one stick, then the other.
And try different slots with one stick.

Either bad RAM stick, or bad RAM slot on the motherboard.

Just restarted memtest with only one stick is slot 1, couple of seconds later already 5 errors.

OK, now move that same stick to slot 2.
Does it do the same thing?

Yes, very quickly registered 5 errors.

Looks to be correct! I put in the other RAM stick and it's lasted quite a bit longer than the other with no errors thus far. Would I be able to install Windows with only one 8GB stick?

Yes.

Just start from the beginning and run it as usual? Thank you guys so much for sticking with me on this, seeing as it's my first build I was banking on it being something I did wrong. You guys rock!

Run the memtest with this hopefully good RAM stick.
Assuming it does not fail, yes. Just start the OS install just like normal, with only that one stick.

Sure enough, downloaded perfectly fine and is up and running. Sent out a replacement request for the bad RAM. Final question, when my new RAM sticks come in, I can swap them out and it won't effect anything will it?
