Having trouble running 16GB on ram on p55a-ud3

Hi there,

I recently bought 4gbx4 of ddr3 ram for my P55a-ud3 motherboard but it can only detect 8gb. Is there a setting that i have to tweak in bios to get it to run 16gb?

The ram I am using the cosair vengence (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)

Please help me with this as I do a little photo editing and lightroom requires a bit of ram.

i would download and burn memtest into a cd. boot from that cd and a a memory test on your ram. if all of it is not showing up im suspecting bad ram sticks

Have you already changed the stick around in the slots? Try them one by one to make sure they all work.

In bios, my computer is able to tell me that I have 4x4gb sticks installed. It's just that when I boot into windows 64bit home premium, task manager only shows me 8gb available.

I am wondering if this is a bottleneck of the motherboard or something else.

That is a bottleneck of win home premium, that only supports 8GB. A limitation that is well hidden documented somewhere on microsoft.com.
