Having trouble with cooling fan error. Windows 8.1 (64x)

Hello, this is my first thread here.

I have a problem with a error "Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service."

I am pretty sure I hear my fan right now as I type this. No matter what the error wont stop bugging me. This is what my SpeedFan says right now.

Tried looking at other threads, but to no avail.

Post your complete and detailed build.

Download HWInfo and run Sensors for a while. Post the results - usually 3 screenshots in TinyPic or similar. This'll show temps, clock, voltages etc

Power off PC. Open case. Power on PC, see if the CPU fan is spinning. That is the only fan you need to worry about that is measured and tracked by bios or windows.

IF the CPU fan is not spinning poke it. See if it will start. If not replace it.
IF the CPU fan is spinning ...
(1) run a stand alone MALWARE scan like free Norten download. This might be a fake message.
(2) reload the MB drivers... likely windows pushed service that broke whatever monitors fan speed. IF this is an pre-built PC then reload any drivers from the manufacturer web page. If you built this yourself the drivers came on a CD with the MB.

If this is a toshiba notebook the problem will be a bad piece of software... Click Uninstall a program or Add and remove a program. In the list of installed programs search for Value Added Apps, Value Added Package, and other unwanted software. lol, yes toshiba laptop. Google the problem then delete the bad software.

Your CPU fan is only running at 500rpm. Remove the covers. Blow the case out with compressed air and see if the rpm comes up.

Actually, his CPU fan is not running at all. You are looking at the 'MAX column', look at average (24 RPM) or the current RPM (0). Your right, a shot of compressed air to blow out dust in the fan vents of a laptop is always a good thing. He can buy a can of compressed air for $7 at staples, or online at amazon, etc. If the problem is fan speed = 0 then he should fix.

Then after blowing out the dust, paste your error message into google and read what other are saying about exactly this probelm with exactly this notebook. But do as i7baby suggest and blow out the dust first.

re: "It should run at around 4000rpm" do you mean as MAX rpm when running under full load and the CPU approaching 85C? or do you mean when the laptop is idle at 54C like this screen shot. This is a laptop.

But it's not a bad idea to load up the CPU and see if the FAN kicks in when the CPU temp picks up.

ASIDE: google find a "TOSHIBA Cooling Performance Diagnostic Tool" http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Features-Knowledge-Base/TOSHIBA-Cooling-Performance-Diagnostic-Tool/ta-p/349298 If this Toshiba tool works with this laptop then downloading it and trying it out makes sense. But I would use compressed air to blow out fan first.

*UPDATE* I used a flashlight to see my cooling fan inside, it appears a crumb was stopping the fan from functioning. What should I do?
