Having trouble with samsung SSD 850 EVO

Bought a new SSD and can't download windows 7 onto because I lost the installation discs. I was wondering if I buy a product key online and use that on the Microsoft website to get the installation discs will this work on the new SSD?. When I try to put my current windows 7 key into the download manager it says "The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer".
