Hi, i'm not very technically minded really, so i hope you guys can help!
I live in the UK, and i live with a roommate, we both use our PCs quite a lot, mainly for gaming.

However, when playing, mainly League of Legends, my roommate feels the need to load youtube videos, download on steam, or load a LOT of 1920x1080p pictures on reddit. That makes me lag a lot.

I was wondering if there is any way that i can install like a second broadband connection? or something like that, anything that will make what he does not lag me out would be fantastic!

my ISP is BT.

Thanks :)

No point getting a load balancing router, just get a second line installed in your room and in you name if you can, just make sure you aren't paying for the other anymore, or if you upgrade to infinity and hopfully get 50+meg and the problem would disappear.

I live in the middle of Sheffield, i don't think BT are installing fibre here for a while, on the outside of Sheffield they have, but i don't think they will here for some time. Even says on their website that there are no plans for it 🙁

To get a new line, would an isp have to come to my flat block and like, put a new connection in my wall?

Sorry, i really have no idea :<

You will need B̶T̶ to put in a phone line (12 month contract), then use bt or who ever you think may be best for internet provider.

use sam knows so see what isp you can get Sky, BT, Zen, ect

Use your current number.

Sky can connect/install so check if you need a bt line already or if they can install with other providers. you used to have a bt line that may have change now.

"Sky Line Rental required (£15.40 per month). Connection charge from £39 may apply for customers without an active BT compatible line"

You should phone bt and see how much a second line is, if it cheaper than a new account and broadband on it.

No info just a phone number.
