Having windows 8 and 10

I have 2 SSDs and one hhd for back up. My SSDs both have Os on them One has 10 they other 8.1. Is it safe to use the hdd for extra storage when im using the files for both OS or should i split the hhd into 2 partitions ?

Yes, you can use the HDD for either OS. No partitioning needed.
