Actually you need ATLEAST 2 6pins for it to work....without overdrive, for overdrive to work you need 1x6pin And 1x8pin. And it requires a decent power supply as its a power hungry card. I'm using an Ultra X2 Connect 550w for mine. It has 2x6pin so unless i get an adapter I'm forced to use other methods to overclock it.

And just so we're clear No, 1 6pin will not work unless its combined with 1 8pin as well.

From the manual

A 550 Watt or better power supply with two 2×3-pin
PCIe power connectors. For optimal performance
and flexibility for CrossFire and ATI Overdrive support,
we recommend a 750W power supply with both 2x3-pin
and 2×4-pin PCIe power connectors.

That completly depends on what make the 500W is. If its a Corsair or PCP&C then it will be fine. Its a cheapo brand then avoid.
