HD 2900 pro review(s)

crap; I even glanced through that one before posting and didn't see the review. Kinda figured I'd interupt the discussion posting that link there. Oh well, my bad.

I've had a busy Summer and have rarely posted since the format change. Hoping to get back here more often now though. It's nice to see some familiars still here.

Sorry dude, but it also was in that thread.

It does look impressive for $250. I'm actually coming across an opportunity to grab a 320MB 8800GTS here in the next few weeks. If some more info comes out on this card I would consider it as well. It still suffers from the same hit when you apply AA (which was a given) but if it overclocks good enough and the price is under the 320MB 8800GTS, it could very well tip the scale in favor of the HD2900Pro.

I think we are finally going to have some decent mid-priced mid-range cards. I suspect these cards will be in the low $200s in a month or two when the supply settles in.

Toss in the new mid-range NVIDIAs coming out and I think we will have some real nice options w/o breaking the bank on low-mid range systems.

I'm just hoping the price of a GTX drops before my 90 day step-up period expires... That's the card I still want, I just don't want to pay $500 for it. If it drops to $370-$400, I might step up to it.

The price you are looking at when you step up is the MSRP minus what you paid in wherever you bought it not the price you see in random shops, and the MSRP for the GTX still is $600. (And it doesn't drop all that fast, the 7600GT MSRP until just 2 or 3 months ago was $270, now it's down to $200... so go figure).

The step program is more for marketing. You are better of selling the card and buying a new one.

evga step-up sounds like a good idea but its worthless. Its better to sell your card on ebay and buy a new one from newegg instead of paying for the crap msrp price when you trade it in

anyone who's been searching on UK sites able to beat the £148 priced model on ebuyer? The 2900pros are noticably absent from dabs at the moment

I tend to find that Dabs are pretty close to ebuyer prices but usually have a bigger range (or at least I seem to find more options for things I want). Because of the bigger range they usually have cheaper products not on ebuyer

isnt it true that these cards will not be hanging around and that their only around to move defective 2900's in preparation for the 2950's?
lol theres not a single shop in aus that has them yet you guys are hell lucky were still paying $360au for the 8800gts 320mb.
im seriously considering the 2900gt for its price aslong as it performs 40-50% better then my x1950pro

it's pre-order (comes in 1st apparently). I'm not sure about those specs, if they're accurate it's heavily overclocked by default

Wow. This 2900 pro seem like a great replacement for my aging 7900GT.
Clocked at 600 core and 1600 mem its pretty close to an XT. A little OCing and its a better deal. For the Sapphire brand its $264.99 at the egg. Something to really think about.
