I'm building a budget gaming rig for my friend and I've got a budget (obviously) to stick to.

The two video cards that seem to fall into this price range, that are worth buying, are the HIS HD 6670 and PowerColor HD 7730 both are GDDR5. The 7730 is about $2.5 cheaper than the 6670, if that matters at all.

The only thing that's stalling me from choosing one is that the gaming performance of either one seem neck and neck. The 6670 has more shading processing units (about 100 more) and performance according to Game Debate: http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1746&gid2=1185&compare=radeon-hd-7730-vs-radeon-hd-6670-sapphire-1gb-gddr5

Also, GPUBoss says, "...while the 7730 comes up short against the 6670's shader count, we aren't expecting it to be slower." http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-7730-vs-Radeon-HD-6670

Is the 7730 better because it's newer?

Thanks!

His budget, excluding the operating system and monitor, is slightly under $300. Without the video card we're currently at about $230. The 6670 and 7730 cost about $60 here.

The current build, if that helps (we haven't bought anything yet):
CPU: AMD A4-3300 (about $40)
Mobo: MSI A55M-P33 (also about $40)
Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 (1 x 4GB) 1.6GHz (about $30)
Storage: 1 TB Western Digital (slightly above $50)
Case: CMP 102 [w/ 500W PSU] (about $50)
Disc drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 (about $20)

The prices of which total at about $230 (I'm converting different currencies here, that's why I keep saying "about")

I also dislike planning out low-end PC's.

Oh, there's also the HD 6570 DDR3 that happens to be about $20 cheaper, and the performance is just about the same as the 7730 (besides the memory). He's not the kind of gamer I am, he'll probably be playing DOTA and LoL. And he says as long as he can play, the graphics don't matter.

If any of that helps...
