HD 6670 gddr5. Help?

Hy guys.

Im REALLY new to pc component stuff, so i need help..

i'm looking to buy a new gpu to replace my 7950gt. 😀

i have a amd 4200+
2gb of ddr2 , but gettign + 2 soon.
and my biggest concern- 500 w psu.

i was looking at these 2 card but i had 3 questions in general.

1. Which one is overall better?
2. Would these cards work on my 500w psu?
3. Whould these gpu have the same connector to psu as my old 7950gt or a new one? If its a new one- how can i change that?

Whole pc specs.
My full specs:
AMD 64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz
Nvidia nforce 570 ultra KN9(nf-mcp55)
DDR2 2gb ram 800mhz
GeForce 7950gt
500gb hdd
Cooler master psu 500w.

+ maybe i can get some better card then 6670 for my setup?
 
1) 6670 is 6670, and both will perform at the same basic level. The one with the larger fan will probably run cooler and quieter and will fit in a standard case. The other one is a 1/2 height low profile card meant for small boxes that do not fit standard sized cards.

These cards require a 400W PSU according to the manufacturer's website, and my bet is that you could probably get away with less than that.

3) It is hard to tell from the picture, but most GPUs in this class take a single 6 pin power input, so if your PSU already has that then you should be fine. If your PSU does not have one then they make cheap adapters which go from 2 molex to a single 6 pin adapter.
-Note: If you need a molex to 6 pin adapter bare in mind that there is a reason they use 2 molex connectors: GPUs typically require more amperage than a PSU can handle on a single rail (or string), so be sure to plug each molex connector into a different strand of connectors coming off of your PSU otherwise you may overload your PSU causing it to fail prematurely.
 

No offence to your system, but I would rebuild it before you look at getting a larger GPU.

No amount of extra ram, or newer drives is going to change the fact that the system is just old, and will choke a large GPU.

An i3 processor, basic motherboard, and 4GB of DDR3 can be had for ~$200 USD, and is fast enough to feed even mid to high end GPUs if you want to upgrade on the cheap. Granted you may have to upgrade your HDD/CD drive if you are not on SATA yet, because new boards tend not to have old IDE connectors anymore.
 
Yes, he's right, the 6670 is a very underpowered and therefore low TDP card.

Get an ivy bridge i3 or i5 (even an FX4300 or FX 6300 will do), a motherboard for that, and at least
4GB of DDR3-1600. Your current setup would bottleneck even a 6670.

If you want to play popular games at decent FPS and settings, then you don't want a 6670. Go with
a 7750/7770/650/650 Ti. If you can, I recommend a 660.

Your "biggest concern" should not be the PSU. It should be regarding the Athlon and the DDR2 RAM. Keep the 500w PSU; it will be enough for any of the above mentioned GPUs.

i was looking for a new pc (cause i tought that i really should upgrade this old system. ) and found this- i could get this in two months.

would this be okay?
i mainly play games like dota 2, cs go, tf2.
this would be great cause this would run far cry 3 and dishonored.
 
I think you meant to attach a link... but you forgot to.

Anyways TF2 runs really smoothly on anything above a GT 630, CS GO you'd need maybe a GTX 650 or 7770 to run maxed out
with good fps, I dunno about dota 2, FC3 and dishonored.
 
You could get the HD 7770 which runs good at 1366 resolution on all games. GTX 650 would be another alternative but if you are really on a tight budget, you can get the GT 640, no 6 pin or 8 pin required and you could play games at medium settings and even ultra for BF3 at 1366 resolution at about 20 fps.
 
No. the GT 640 is the worst concoction out of all the 600 series Kepler cards. It gets destroyed by the 7750, 7770, and 650
in every single possible game. Even the 6670 gives the GT 640 a run for its money.

If you can, get the 7770 or 650.
 

there is no need of getting gtx 650 as hd 7750 beats gtx 650 with very low power consumption.

ok. i only found a asus 6670 ddr3 1gb.

but the last question - will my mobo support it?
i' read some post that some mobos (1.0) wont support 2.0 and 2.1
