So I currently have an HD 6850 that I bought two years ago and it still to this day works great. Should I upgrade to the R270x or wait one more year before upgrading? I am currently completely overhauling my PC and was wondering if I should spend those 220$ more?
Specs:
i5-3570k
HD 6850
8GB Ram 1600
Z77 Gigabyte mobo
1TB HDD
550W PSU.
Suggestions? Or if you have a better cheaper option, that would be great as well.

I dont prefer the 900 series as it is not better than the 700 series. There are no such rumors about the 960 too. I suppose if the 960 gets launched, then it would come out as an OEM.:)

Wait...wait...the 900 series isnt better than the 700 series? The 970 is superior to the 770 by a good margin and the 980 is superior to the 780. The 960 is coming out this month for sure. The 760 has already been discontinued and prices will go down eventually.

You are comparing the series with a same tens digit. Actually its like gtx 580=gtx 670= gtx 760. There is avery slight difference between these cards. Also the 970 is costlier than the 780 and the 970 has less shaders compared to the 780. 900 series is just great for doing sli as it uses less power

I know exactly how the series line goes but that still doesnt make your first statement any less ridiculous. The 970> the 780 and the 980 is greater than the 780ti. The gap is closer between the 980 and the 780ti right now. Plus the price may be less on some models on the 780(rarely) but it really doesnt make any sense to buy a 780 because the savings isnt that great. It's about 10-30 dollars. The 900 series has better performance and uses less power. The price to performance ratio with the 970 right now is amazing.
