Heeii..

Im getting this Graphics card, since i wanna bang the graphics out of DayZ:

AMD Radeon HD 7970 (3072 MB GDDR5 - DX 11)

Anybody, got experience with this card, is it any loud when NOT gaming....
Is it loud if you just play a casual game like Minecraft etc.?

I see some people say if its on its max it sounds like a hair dryer.. xD

Greetz!..

Just buy an aftermarket version for a about 20$ more and the noise won't be a problem... Because, yes, the card is loud... xD
WarZ is just badly coded... Terribly coded :s don't be surprise if, even then, you can't maxed it out... Either it runs great... Or doesn't get much better... It's just not a very well made game...

You will not have a problem with any other game though :)

The 7970 will push higher framerates, but will have worse latency between those frames.

The 670 will feel comparable at a lower framerate to a 7970 pushing more frames.

That being said, what AirSkiller was saying was that you should get a card that doesn't have a reference-style cooler, as they tend to be noisy.

I've got a Sapphire card and its super silent while gaming. Usually i play with surround system volume high so never bothered to care.
But the card is too fast for me since i am using a single ips. may be i would be buying a 60' monitor soon

The time taken between redering frames frames, ie a latency of 20ms is equivalent to 50fps (1000/20=50). It is generally appreciable that the 99th percentile frame times on AMD cards is higher but the all the other frames render faster so overall you get more fps. AMD are however working on this at the moment and are catching up to nVidea (or so it seems) so don't worry about it much

A version with an aftermarket cooling isn't! Don't be sad :)

It really depends on your perception of what loud is. If you have earphones/headset on I doubt you will ever notice it

Definitely get a non reference one. I have the Sapphire 7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition, and it is really quiet below 50% fan speed. You can always set up a custom fan profile in MSI afterburner to keep it below that since the stock fan profile is a bit aggressive. Mine doesn't go above 50% now and the highest temperature I've seen is 64 degrees Celsius after an hour or two of battlefield 3.

Keep in mind Arma 2 can get kind of laggy if the server is up too long. If a server has been up for, say 5 hours, I might get 30 or lower FPS with my 7970 GHz and i5 2500k, but if it just restarted I'll get 60 to 80 FPS.

Thanks for telling.

Is this rig any good, for Battlefield, Skyrim, Minecraft etc?
