I have a Seagate Barracuda 1Tb HD. It has worked fine for almost 2 years in its external enclosure. Then it suddenly doesn't show up in my computer, and it's clicking. I took the plat off of the HD, and now it beeps 5 times, repeatedly, and still is not 'seen' by my comp. any ideas would be appreciated.

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, @Harleyx!

Unfortunately, it sounds like the HDD is physically damaged. These clicking noises indicate that there's a hardware issue with the drive. Sadly, this is something that cannot be fixed. Tampering with the hardware by yourself was not a good idea as you need a specific dust-free environment to operate on a mechanical hard drive. 🙁 If you have important files on the drive that you wish to retrieve, I'd strongly recommend you consider contacting a professional data recovery company as they would be your best bet on getting any of the files back.

If you don't important files on it, then I'd recommend you replace the HDD as it's no longer to be trusted with your personal data.
You could still try to...

You could still try to access it from another PC and make sure you check how it appears in Disk management in Windows or Device manager. If it's not detected anywhere, the drive has most probably failed beyond repair. 🙁

Let me know if you have more questions & good luck with the data recovery!
