I'm truly sorry to hear about your issues with the WD My Passport, @brhnahmad05! :(
Unfortunately, disconnecting the external HDD without safely ejecting it while it was still active could have most probably damaged the drive itself. I'd second @Jared's suggestion and advise you to consider contacting a professional data recovery company for assistance with your files. They would be your best bet on getting any of those files back. Using third-party tools in a situation where you could be dealing with a hardware damage is definitely NOT recommended as it could potentially do more harm, than good. :(

You could still try to access the HDD using a different USB cable and also on a different computer to check if the system...

You'll probably need professional recovery I'm sorry to say. These drives have the USB interface built right onto the drive's PCB with no SATA connection. Also, the data is encrypted by the USB bridge chip, even if you didn't set a password. So there's very little you'll be able to do yourself.

The good news is, in the condition you describe the recovery may only run you $300-600 right now. A few companies I'd recommend who can handle such a case and won't extort a high price:

https://www.data-medics.com (Providence, RI USA)
https://www.recoveryforce.com (Guelph, ON Canada)
http://www.datasaversllc.com (Atlanta, GA USA)

Or if you tell me your location I can probably recommend someone closer to you.

You could still try to access the HDD using a different USB cable and also on a different computer to check if the system hangs will still occur. If they do, then it's most probably the WD My Passport's fault and it's corrupted. I hope swapping the cables/ports/PCs will help, though. Let us know how it goes!

In the future, always remember to keep at least two duplicates of your files stored in different locations (storage devices).

Keep us posted.
