hi,

looking to get a sw package that give me some sort of hd maintenence..whether it be defrag, or like a disk doctor..
any good software out there for that?

Also what would be the benefit of using ssd over my 1tb 7200 rpm?

A decent SSD will outperform your hard drive by a large margin and you don't have to defrag an SSD. Downside is the extremely high price per GB.
Regulary checking the SMART status with a tool like HD Tune is recommended.
And of course you should always assume your drive can fail completely at any time so make sure you always have a backup of your important files.

Gaming: very little to no advantage
Every day use: booting Windows and starting applications will be much faster and there's no need for defragmentation
With the high price of SSDs the smartest thing to do is to buy a small SSD (60 GB or so) for Windows and applications (excl. big games) and a big regular hard drive for data storage and games.
