If your current monitor is already running at 1920x1080, buying a new monitor at that resolution won't make a big difference, unless your monitor has a defective panel. If you don't think your current monitor is true HD, go to a local Best Buy or any electronic retailer, and take a look at their 1080p monitors. If the ones at the store are also not as high definition as you would like, then it's time to bump up the resolution to 1440p or even 2560x1600. Also, the type of cable you use for your monitor shouldn't affect the picture quality. If your computer is showing 1920x1080 in the display properties, then it's working properly. The ASUS monitors with 2ms response times will be more than adequate for general needs, but they use TN panels which won't produce the same level of color accuracy as other types of panels. But for gaming, you might want to stick with a low response time monitor.
