HD setup PC, PS3, Speakers & Xonar HDAV 1.3 or other?

Ok hi, I have a PC and a PS3 with amBX speakers at the moment but I would like to upgrade, I’m not that great at audio stuff I’m more pc hardware/software etc.

I want to get a sound card that will allow me to plug my ps3 into it and have it output sound from the ps3 and the pc to speakers

Basically I want to get HD/good quality 2.1 or 5.1 sound from my ps3 and pc as cheaply as possible

I need help getting very confused else I’m just going to buy everything and then I will defiantly get summing working

my idea was to get a Asus HDAV 1.3 and plug the ps3 into that then have it output to a Sony HT-DDWG800 but that means spending about £400 which seams way to much just so I can get good quality sound from my pc and ps3

I don't see the point of wasting all that effort to get HD sound if your speakers aren't even going to reveal the difference.

ok what if i got the Xonar D2X? im not sure what S/PDIF is is that what is on teh back of the ps3 cos they look diffrent i know the one ont he ps3 is called optical?
