Hello everyone, happy new year. I have a hard drive Samsung HD161HJ model, which made a low-level format using a utility for the purpose of hirren's boot disk. Using Windows XP, so the disk was inmediate recognized when connected via a cable converter SATA to USB. So I disconnected and turn it off, then I connected to use it again, the operating system does not recognize it, I plug the cpu internally and bios does not recognize. The Hard Drive turns on, but not recognized, it seems that had erased the programming of the logic board. What can I do? could you please advise me to do? Thanks in advance.

Welcome, ciberfan!

I'd recommend you to go to Device Manager and make sure that the drive is recognized as a SATA device by Windows. Afterwards, check Disk Management!
Since you've used a low-level formatting tool, the HDD is most probably in its default unformatted state. This would require you to go to Disk Management, initialize the drive and then partition & format it. This should make it visible and accessible through Windows File Explorer.
Here are a couple of tutorials from our knowledge base you might find useful:

hi, thanks for answering my question. But as I said the hard drive is not recognized by Windows in anywhere, not in the Disk Manager or as mounting usb even sata connection connecting it internally is recognized by the BIOS. All this after making a low-level format.

This seems very unfortunate, @ciberfan! You mentioned that you are able to recognize it externally via the SATA-to-USB converter, right? So I'd recommend you to try connecting it like this again and initialize and format it from there. Then, again attempt plugging it internally via SATA and check if you'd be able to access it or see it anywhere.
Another thing you could try is using the HDD on another computer and see if you'd be able to detect there at least.

You could also try using Command Prompt (Run as Administrator) and more specifically the DiskPart command list disk ( https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766465%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 ) and check if you'd be able to see the HDD there.

Keep me posted.
