Hello my friends,

Im upgrading my monitor and I have 3d gaming in mind for the future. (want to play 2013 upcomming pc games in 3d)

Im getting a sapphire radeon ghz 3g 7970 vapor-x
And i am also getting a Samsung S23A700D.

Now my question would be, the samsung has only Analog, HDMI, DVI Dual Link- slots.
No Displayports.
Yesterday, I was sitting infront of the computer for 2 hours reading what I need for 120hz 1080p for 3d gaming and all I found was, that I need a displayport connection from my gpu to my monitor.

Now, If I use a display port converter, as in - displayport connected to my sapphire, and then the other end a dvi OR an hdmi - end for my new monitor, would I be able to play on 120hz 1080p for 3d? or will the hdmi/dvi end °bottle neck° the transfer rate?

I also read (cant remember if its true) a dvi dual link from gpu to monitor connection will able me to play it also on 120hz 1080p in 3d. OR is it only 120hz 1080p NON-3d ?

I really want to have the best 3d gaming experience in the future.

All tips, other monitor suggestions is greatly appriciated.
Thanks!

I haven't used the 700 model, but I have seen someone report back to me about their experience, and read on the forums that it is an exception to the rule. It allows for HD3D through Dual-Link DVI-D. I don't know how they get around the frame packing problem, but Samsung specially designed that monitor to work at 1080p 60hz in HD3D using DL DVI-D

That said, the 750 model will work with Displayport. It does include the glasses if you note what is written at the bottom of the page:
