I'm having a lot of problem's with usage for my two cards. I'm lucky to get 60% usage on both cards at a time. On crysis 2 i only get around 50-60% usage on both and on the bf3 beta i only see around 50% usage as well. The most i've seen is on bc2 where i get around 70% usage but it dips all over the place from like 40-90% but 90 is very rare doesnt stay on it for long and it usally dips back down. Am i using the wrong drivers or something? Does the vapor x 5770's need different driver then normal ones? Right now i'm using drivers for the 5700 series and it's up to date with amds site.

So what are some things i can do to boost the usage of both these cards? are there some settings in ccc that i'm missing or something?

Doesn't necessarily work like that. Certain functions are delegated to the CPU primarily, and other functions delegated to the GPU. As far as which functions and how many there are, that is generally how you determine whether a game is primarily cpu dependent vs. gpu dependent. They don't just use 100% of your CPU and then swap to the GPU.

@casualcolors yeah, but what would that have to do with anything? The cpu load isn't that high and the gpu's are not using their full power. If my cpu was bottlenecking it would be at 100% yet i still can't max both out cards out meaning the cpu has nothing to do with why i can't max these cards out. In theory anyway.
Unless you're saying that since they both mostly use the cpu there is no need for the pgu to be at 100% but ive never seen my cards at 100% only when im using one so.
@c0rehound a 2500k and yes, it's installed.

In essence, when you say "my cpu useage isn't high" in a game where it is primarily cpu-driven, all that you're really saying is that you have a very nice cpu (which you do, 2500k :) ). Your CPU-useage being at 50% vs. 100% doesn't correlate into anything having a direct impact on your xfire setup. The only reason that it's pertinent to mention that some of the games you are concerned about happen to be very cpu-oriented, is that you might only be seeing 50-60% gpu useage b/c that is simply all the useage you're going to get on that title. You'll probably see more in the final release of BF3, but as it stands the current beta version that we've all been playing is several months old so it's hard to really make definitive judgements or concerns based around it.

The one thing you didn't mention is what FPS you're getting? If you're at 50% gpu useage and 25 fps, that would be something to be concerned about certainly.

well for crysis its around 55-60fps and for bc2 and bf3 it's anywhere from 70-130 when im looking out over the full map its drops to like 70-80fps on bf3 sometimes it drops below 60 but thats because it's a beta though i bet.

so it's not like i'm so really really bad framerate. I'm just wondering why the usage is like never above 70% on avg. I just wanna be able to use more of both my gpu's to make a more stable framerate or easily keep my framerate above 60fps its not like i'm using a huge res or anything, i play all my games in 720p only..

It really isnt at all. After overclocking and extra 800mhz and didn't get any additional frames, mind you the card was topped out @ 3Ghz 3.8 gave me nothing.

When overclocking my cpu I didn't gain a lot on the topend but I gained a LOT on the bottom end of my fps. Even just a 400mhz overclock increased my basement fps by 15fps at the worst of times vice what it had been before.

It's not just speculation that frostbite 1.5 and the crytek engine for crysis 2 are more cpu-bound than other games. It's common knowledge.

I had the 5770 Vapor-X in CFX about a year ago, what drivers are you using.?
they take the same drivers and you set up the CFX in the CCC panel as you know.

I'm using 11.9. These ( http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.43&lang=us&rev=&ostype=Windows%207%20-%2064-Bit%20Edition ) sorry about the large url, i don't know the rules about sites to make shorter urls etc for this site anyway... yeah i install the latest drivers from that link then go into ccc and enable the crossfire thats all i have to do right? I don't see any other settings in ccc besides the little check box to enable them both am i missing a setting or something? Were you getting over 60% usage on your crossfire setup?

Out of all thoughs links the only thing i seen that i didnt know/try was the Hyperspeed Technology thing and i have no clue what that is.

"5) The FAQ mentions making sure the Bios has Hyperspeed Technology set to 1000 (or whatever the bios/chip can handle) I have a page about this in my Bios, but there is no speed value like that, is that correct?"

That's what it said.

Yeah, i didn't mention it so sorry. I have no clue what could be causing this. Maybe this setup just sucks? You never did mention what your gpu usage was for both your cards or do you not remember/never checked?

The rage ones? If so then no. The ones that i linked are the ones i installed they are the latest stable ones correct? I usally install drivers for the HD 5700 series since they don't have any for just the 5770.

well i play everything in 720p, and i'd understand that if it was always like almost smooth. I get ALOT of framerate drops though in games and sometimes like the video lags for a few sec with a huge framerate drop then it goes back up to normal.

I know this sounds odd but take a look at your link bridges. Each end should be labeled something like "J1A" and "J2A." Make sure that "J1A" is connected to the top card and "J2A" is connected to the bottom card. Cleared up my crossfire issues. YMMV.
