Looking for a new video card that will play GTA V and Mortal Kombat X. I may play other games but probably if it can play those two games, it'll play most any other games for a while. I mean the HD7950 appears to be Directx 11 compatible so that should be good on Directx for a while. I know bold assumption but I'll probably just play gta v and mortal kombat x. I think I would like to play Max Payne 3. Been wanting to play it for years but was unable to play it.

Anyway, this is the HD7950 that I was looking at. Also, do you think the price is alright or is it too high for the value of the video card? Don't want to get royally cheated.

Here is the link:

I also found this one. Whats the difference between this one and the Gigabyte brand?

Are these two cards similar in performance?

Thanks!

Found another card:

To answer your question on pricing, the difference in pricing is just the branding. Gigabyte usually have their cards priced higher due to them being 'Windforce' edition cards fitted with 3 fans for better cooling option. I would say, no, you're not getting royally cheated.

Next on your GPU being able to run GTA V or MC X, first you need to state what resolution you are going to be running those games at. And what setting you plan to run them on. Because any GPU can run any games and achieve high frame rate. But to do this, you may need to reduce the graphic settings to extremely low in order to achieve high frame rates or be forced to deal with un-playable frame rate at high graphic settings.

But here's some reference to how your card will perform.

I would like to be able to run GTA V, Mortal Kombat X, and Max Payne 3 on high or ultra or whatever the highest setting is.

To give more about my computer specs:
I have a the M5 A97 motherboard with an AMD FX 8350 processor that is not overclocked.
I have 8 GB of DDR3 ram that runs at 1600 Mhz
I have a 650 watt power supply.

I checked out the videos. It looks like it would run it great.

I highly doubt you will run those games at max on 1080p with the 7950. But you will get really decent performance at whatever recommended settings your GPU can handle.

Here's a small benchmark of the GPU compared to other high end ones.

I never had any 1080p stuff anyways but what resolution settings are you talking about for the 7950. My monitor is 1600x900 resolution. It's a hp s2031 20" lcd. As long as it isn't 700x something then I'm pretty satisfied.

The youtube videos looks pretty good for me. Would you say that I could run gta v, mortal kombat x, and max payne 3 on normal settings.

I found a Gigabyte card on ebay with a starting bid of $90. What do you think the card is worth?

If that's your resolution then I you'd be fine to run the games on at least high.

Regarding the ebay seller. Well it is definitely a cheaper option than buying a new card. However cheap price comes with many risk such as the card being defect even though the seller states that it's gently used. So, if you are on a really tight budget would I recommend you to bet your money on the 90 bucks card. But I highly doubt you'd encounter any problem. Bought a few used stuff from ebay and have yet to receive any defective goods. So it's pretty safe to do that and save a ton of cash.

Thank you for all your replies. I appreciated it. You're post contains pc specs. If those are yours then you have a nice system. From what I have seen, it out performs amd by a lot. I think my amd 8350 is like an i5 or something. Don't know what version. I just bought a motherboard, cpu, and ram combo on eBay. Then I bought a fractal 2300 case because the computer that blew two capacitors was gateway cases and it was too tight of a fit. I like the fractal case. For the price it isn't bad. No led lights but I don't really care about that anyways.

I found another card starting at $60 (bidding) but the guys eBay name is sol.from.nyc and the feedback is 0.

This is just a joke but I sure hope the sol doesn't stand for sh*t out of luck. But yeah, I don't want to trust it with a 0 feedback. I know they have to start somewhere but I don't know. I'll have to let other people try them first and them build up a feedback.

Yeah, if I get the card, I hope it works out good for me. Hopefully, it's not overheating or one of the fans quits working a few days after using it.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Are you located in the United States? I'm from south central part of Missouri.

I own a Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X. And is paired to my i5 2500K OC 4.6ghz. It can run the newer games pretty good at 1080p. I have my settings on GTA V for instance mixed with med to high settings. and get 60 fps. Solid card if you can get one at a good price!!!

Yeap 😀 That's my actual spec. Cost me about 2400USD if I convert everything from SGD. Things in my country are overpriced due to tax. With the same amount of money in the US, I'm pretty sure GTX980 2-Way SLI is possible. But sadly things here are too expensive D: BTW I'm in the Asia side. Singapore to be exact. I'd suggest you getting a SSD of at least 120GB as your boot drive and nothing more. SSD speeds up everything by a lot. Taking my system as an example, my boot time from pressing the power button to the point where I can surf the net takes me about 30s.

I did a search for "Sapphire HD 7950 and found this one at a pretty good price. Apparently it has just been repaired by the manufacturer because it mentions RMA. "7950 new from RMA. Plugged it into a system and ran a Heaven benchmark to make sure it is in working order."

I may get it unless someone on here is going to buy it out from under me. lol
