Are you sure crash is happening because HDD heated up...???

Else please ensure that HDD is really heating up don't blindly beleive the Data you are getting using any third party softwares.

Turn off the system check that is HDD really heated up...??

If it's really heating more than normal....remove the cables take the hdd out of the cabinet...take a blower and blow the dust inside the sata slots and from the whole hdd if it's there....check if it every thing goes normal....if still not try changing the sata cables some time cables also be the reason behind these kind of issues.

let me know how it goes!
