Hi

So I have a 4tb wd red harddrive that i have used extensively in a 3.0 usb dock from sabrent. The format of the drive is exFAT.

When I connect the same harddrive to my new PC via sata (AMD 5950x, asus rog strix e-gaming wifi ii MO), The drive is detected in the BIOS and in Windows. But when i check disk management, it shows up in a different format (see pictures). I cannot access the drive when connected via sata. On the pc, it works when connected via the usb dock.
Another HDD (1tb wd blue) works and is detected, using same cable and slots.

How do I go about fixing this? any guidance would be appreciated!

Solution
Your dock changes the sector size from 512 bytes to 4096 bytes when the drive's capacity is greater than 2TiB. When you connect such a drive via SATA, the OS sees a 4Kn file system on a 512e drive.

You need to find a dock that doesn't mess about with the sector size.

Hey thanks for the info! I didn't know that. Is it possible to change the sector size back to 512? In other words, is it possible to make it usable by the PC. I dont care about using it with the dock again.
