HDD at 100%

My Dad's computer (Acer Aspire e) hard disk drive is at 100%.

I'm worried because my Lenovo Ideapad110 did the same and it completely destroyed my laptop.
I really want to make sure the same does not happen to my Dad's laptop too as he has lot's of important documents.

Any suggestions?

First, purchase a usb drive and back everything up. Second, purchase a larger hard drive and install.(you'll clone the original to the new drive)
