Looking at doing a Raid10, using (4) Seagate compute 8TB 5400 RPM drives.

Mostly use the drives for streaming movies to my Xbox1, or storage of pictures.

I understand going with Raid10 is the most expensive way to go. Just tired of running out of space and want a little security of redundancy.

Will these drives be fast enough to not create problems with streaming over Plex to the XB1? I have a dedicated 960gb SSD for application / OS and a 3TB for applications (when I had a 100gb SSD for OS only).

Any other input? Should I make any other revisions? I will be upgrading from a 5TB toshiba to do this.

Solution
RAID is for physical drive redundancy, not data redundancy.

It does nothing for the far more common forms of data loss.
For that, you want actual backups (which also covers drive fails).
