HDD compatibility issues

I bought an external HDD for a DVR ( HIKVISION DS -7104HGHI-F1.But the port is for a SATA HDD.What can I do ? ( I don't wanna waste my money )
The HDD has got only a USB pin.There is a USB port on the DVR,buf I think it is to connect it to the PC.So,is there any way to connect the external HDD to the DVR ? Please reply ASAP.(I'm just typing the following things Just to post the article,b because there isn't much more to say about my issue.So just ignore the following.

You need to buy an internal SATA HDD for your DVR, not an external USB one.

Try to get the external one exchanged if you can, or use it on your PC for backups.
