About a week ago, one of the HDD in my desktop became inaccessible. The HDD itself still works, so I changed out the SATA cable for new one, but that didn't fix the problem.

The HDD is detected in the BIOS, and device manager, yet I still get a warning pop-up telling me that something is wrong with D: Drive.

Any suggestions, it is SATA HDD, and I am running Windows 7

What shows in the disk manager? My first guess is that the filesystem got corrupted and you will have to try some sort of recovery software if you want to get the data that is on the drive. If you don't care if everything on the drive is wiped, you could re-partition and format it.

Hi there LittleMissSunshine,

I would agree with WyomingKnott and say that you most probably will need to use some data recovery tool. You can check this thread out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
Keep in mind to save your data on another on in order not to overwrite the problematic one in some way.
After that, it may be a good idea to test the drive with some brand specific testing tool in order to see whether there is something wrong with it.

Hope this will help,
