Hi guys
Recently messed up my whole rig with a power surge that destryed my mobo psu cpu, bought new components and am restarting.

New computer works fine turns on sound fan everything, plugged in my 2 old sata hdds (detected in bios) but windows goes to logo and then gets blue screen!
My guess is the hdd got ruined during the surge, so i added 2 more old hdds that I KNOW are working but getting the same exact error.
Atm 4 hdds are connected and all giving the same error im rattle and no idea whats going on

Solution
You need to reinstall windows, When windows gets to the point where it tries to load the drivers for the motherboard it using the old ones and bluescreens.

There are ways around it but in the long run its always better to do a fresh install.

I bought the hdd as part of a desktop preinstalled windows 7 years ago, no disk here, is there another way? Also thx for the reply

Im wondering if theres a chance to log in so i can check which hdd has which files, and from there decide on a reformat, i have work on them all so i cant randomly format one of them >_<

*****edit
I just noticed my mobo has no optical disk drive connector... even if i get a new windows disk i cant install!
Its a GA-Z270 GAMING K3 GIGABYTE mobo

So your in a little bit of a pickle here.

1) you have a harddrive with OS from a prebuilt computer. The OS (win 7) cd key is going to be tied to the prebuilt computer and cant be used to activate the new GA-Z270 GAMING K3 GIGABYTE motherboard.

2) Any newer computer in the last 7 years the motherboard no longer carries an IDE port. All optical and HDD are now sata ports, SSD come in a variety of connections from Sata, PCI-express, and M.2. You can pick up an internal optical drive for 15-20 bucks or an external usb drive for about $30.

Thanks for the info, i thought i was conned with no ide port for disk drive lol ive not been up to date with these things.
It seems my only way around this problem is either buy a sata disk drive or a usb to boot windows, the usb would be the cheaper option so i will probably opt for that since i already burned most of money lol

Thanks everyone for your help there was more then one correct answer so pls dont be offended if i didnt pick you! ^^
