HDD Dock vs External HDD

Is HDD Dock station good for backup vs the external hdd ? In my country (india) price of
External HDD = HDD Dock Station + Internal HDD+ plastic case are same or rather i would say 1 or 2 $ differrence . which one should i go for , just backing up my old movie discs collection and Tv series.
 
Solution
You should be rotating backup drives (always having one backup drive disconnected from the PC with another still attached) to prevent Ransomware from taking out your backups as well. Also, having online backups with at least 30 days retention is a good (but more costly) option.

Personally, I use Veeam Agent and back up to an SMB share hosted by my NAS. The destination share is password protected with the only form of authentication occurring at the Veeam application level, and not Windows. That last part is very important because Ransomware will destroy and and all data that Windows has access too. But to my knowledge, Ransomware can't access data through another 3rd party application unless an API exists to allow for it.

The backup...
External HDD will usually be connected via USB which is much slower than a sata drive connected in a hdd docking station.
There are some that might be connected via Esata which would perform well.
Just be careful to make anydrive unavailable after a backup.
You do not want to be exposed to a ransomware attack.
