I have one of these:

http://uk.startech.com/product/SAT3540U2E-35in-4-Drive-eSATA-USB-Multi-Bay-External-Hard-Drive-Enclosure

A four bay hard drive enclosure, housing four 2TB drives. When I plug it in via USB, all four show up in disk management and work fine, although I can't get them to span (I think this is normal though, the manufacturer has told me they're JBOD)

When I plug it in with Esata though, only one drive shows and I get a yellow box popup by my taskbar:

"A storage device was connected. If this device is a port multiplier, only port 0 of the port multiplier will be active."

My intention was to span these four drives into one 8TB volume, to be used as a weekly backup for an 8TB RAID volume. Any ideas how to make this happen?
