So I bought new HDD Seagate pipeline 320gb
Before installing HDD everything was fine
So I installed new HDD now PC won't boot , gets stuck at windows logo then shuts down
PC starts in safe mode ,so then I used setup wizard to activate new HDD, then i transferred 70gb data to new HDD
Computer doesn't start in normal mode, so I tried to install new OS in new HDD , setup started in safe mode
But during its first reboot it simply shut down ,then i restarted pc now setup continued then PC restarted and error came steup can't be completed during safe mode,
Now I get 3 options windows 7, setup roll back, windows 7
All options are useless, they all freeze at logo screen and shutdown
Tried safe mode error appear setup can't compete in safe mode,
Don't know what to do please help
Tried removing new HDD nothing works

Hi
I hope this is not too late

To recover data off hard disk if windows will not start up you have three different options

0) try starting in safe mode which may bypass windows problem

1). Remove hard drive and connect to USB to Sata interface tray
3.5" drives need external 12 volt power
Many laptop 2.5" drives can use USB port 5volts

Connect to laptop or desktop PC

Browse to your project files
Though if located in c:\users\username\...... May find you do not have permission to access files

2). Boot PC off a Linux rescue cd such as gparted, parted magic, Hirens boot cd
Kaspersky rescue cd etc

Most have a file manager browser and let you copy files off hard drive to a USB memory stick or USB external hard drive

Hi

I assume you have a windows 7 DVD or USB available

Remove new drive or just disconnect power & data cables
Boot off windows 7 disk
Hopefully it can repair windows startup files

Next boot up normally off hard drive in safe mode and schedule chkdsk on c:
Then reboot for chkdsk and reboot one more will occur after chkdsk finishes
Note any errors reported

If you are now ok re connect new hard drive
On rebooting go into bios or uefi and ensure boot hard disk is old existing drive not new drive

Then continue startup
If this succeeds

Download from Seagate their windows hard disk diagnostic software
And test new hard drive
If it passes it should be ready for use

If it fails test return to vendor (RMA)

Problems occur when uefi or bios gets confused about which hard drive to boot from or windows gets confused and puts startup files partition on secondary or previously used hard drive instead of main hard drive containing c:\windows

Microsoft has a tutorial on windows startup repair

Linux tends to ignore windows NT file permisions .

Once files saved you can consider testing hard drive using manufacturers diagnostics ( collection on Hirons boot cd)
Then if no problems found try starting in safe mode and scheduling chkdsk

Best of luck
