Okay guys, this is a long story.

So, I think maybe 3-4 years ago, I remember I wanted to start up my laptop and for some reason it gave my the blue screen of death. When I restarted it, it gave me the options to Repair System (recommended) or Start Windows normally. Well, as of today I was bored and decided to see what I can do to repair the problem.

So, when I did the repair system tactic, it would load, but it only gave me the Windows 7 background and my mouse. Even for Starting windows normally, it would completely blackout.
I went ahead and looked at the diagnostics and it gave me the error of 0146. I don't have any files to look forward too, so I don't really care if I lose them.

BUT, I don't have any CDs. I don't have the Windows 7 CD, or the Dell CD, just no cds at all.

Is there a way to reset your computer without the product key and being unable to go to your desktop? I need tactics on ways to fix this.

I tried to load defaults in the Setup, didn't work.

And whenever I tried to use Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, or Safe Mode with Command Prompt, it would stop loading on /Windows/System32/DRIVES/CLASSPNP.SYS, and black out.

Basically: I have this error, Startup Repair doesn't work, Safe Mode doesn't work, and yeah. Please help with a tactic!

It's not under warranty but if you have the product/windows key (around or under the battery, maybe just underneath the laptop, something like... http://en.community.dell.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/3324/5008.Product-Key.jpg) you can usually contact Dell and ask for a copy of the software CDs. I've done this 2-3 times now while trying to get laptops working for family friends. The HDDs were shot so I got some new ones and Dell sent the software by mail in a matter of days. Try and get in touch with dell and you should be able to do the same thing since the last time I did this was less than a year ago.

Does the battery still work and hold a decent charge? The issue these laptops had was that they were never off the charger. The battery was pretty much shot but as long as it was plugged in it would boot. The problem is that running then with a shot battery and just on outlet power wears the drive down. I don't remember the specifics of it, but it's the answer I kept getting while seeing what was salvageable.

YEAH. Like, when i looked through the BIOS setup, it said something about replacing a battery but I don't think it ties into the problem though? It was still charging and stuff.
But is there a way that I can completely reset my computer without having to go on desktop?
Oh,and I'm broke.
