[HDD Error] detected in BIOS only, can't boot, can't detect as external

hi everyone, I make this question, but I thought it's repost

i had Samsung HDD, this is my 2nd drive since the first drive crashed (normal usage). Now, I got same issue with this one.

issue story:
1. I got error when I'm surfing, like freezing. When boot up after restart, it's show "SMART error. Backup immediately. Press F1 to continue." (and something like that)
2. It takes long time to get number 1, more than 1 or 3 minutes to pass the logo, even go to BIOS (looks faster than passing the logo)
3. I pressed F1 like the number 1 message, but the last, it said "No Operating System detected"
4. my other laptops' damaged, but I don't care about it, so I used the hard drive as external storage. I use the same way, but it never show the pop up like plug the flash drive, it's only spinning without any detection as external drive.
5. I tried to boot up with Ubuntu live USB drive, and it's not detected at all as hard drive

How do I backup my data from it?
Could you give easiest way to backup? I read an article said to backup using DOS, but i don't have any DOS experience.

Hey hapsoro. It sounds like the drive is failing. If the situation is this bad, it is very likely that the recovery software might not detect the drive. You could try some of the recovery solutions from this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html
You did pretty well by trying the drive with another computer and trying to access it with Linux Live USB, but in your case I'm afraid that your best option would be a professional solution such as a data recovery company.

The drive is seriously ill. One or more heads/surfaces are probably degraded.

I would examine the SMART report with a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo.

Look for reallocated, pending, or uncorrectable sectors.

IMHO your only DIY data recovery opportunity would be to clone your drive, sector by sector, using a tool that understands how to work around bad media (eg ddrescue) and then run data recovery software against the clone.

Ddrescue can perform multipass cloning. It clones the easy sectors on the first pass, and attempts the more difficult ones on subsequent passes. It can also clone your drive in reverse, thereby disabling lookahead caching. It keeps a log, allowing it to resume after an interruption.

i have tried using live CD or Ubuntu USB drive, still not working at all. It's like single booting, even choosing "Try Ubuntu", the left dock will shows other partitions, right?
the SDA..bla..bla..bla didn't show anyway.
Then I tried to cannibal the drive to my device for gaming, still not working, can't detected (I used this 5 ways like I typed too). like the number 1 and 2.
other problem is, I don't know where is Samsung company in Indonesia, it will long time I thought.

If the drive doesn't show up in your OS, then most software tools won't be able to do anything with it.

You could obtain diagnostic information from the drive's serial terminal port, but I fear that this will only be a post mortem exercise. For more information, I suggest you visit the HDD Oracle forum:

Unfortunately it looks like the situation is pretty bad. Even though it could prove to be quite costly sometimes, I'd recommend a data recovery company as most reliable solutions for this situation, if you want a chance of retrieving your files.
