Hello

I need help whether if my hard drive is failing or something else is causing a problem, just yesterday while I was playing a game the computer constantly froze and the hard drive was making odd noises, I couldn't do anything so I decided to reboot, after the reboot I encountered another problem, "EFI Shell Version something something, cannot find required map name", It took multiple reboots before the computer would just start normally, and so I decided that maybe it was best to just reset the computer.

It worked for a while but now I'm encountering it again, playing that same game, Medieval II Total War, it was again accompanied by the hard drive making odd noises.

Motherboard : MSI H97M-G43
CPU : i3-4160 3.60 GHz, 3600 MHz, 2 Cores
GPU : GTX 1050 Ti
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
OS : Windows 10

Both the CPU and the HDD are very old, probably 7+ years old.

Solution
Hello highnoontenno, if you hear strange noises and you suspect them coming from the HDD, do not attempt to power on your computer as this will destroy the HDD and information contained in it in case you want to recover your files. Please get in contact with support . You may also check your warranty here.

It is always a good idea to have a good data backup plan just in case.

Let me know how it went.

Thank you for the reply seagate_surfer, the hard drive probably doesn't have warranty anymore since it's 7+ years old, I've backed up all my files and decided to just replace the hard drive.
