Hey, so all of a sudden i have been getting blue screen of death really quickly where I cant read the error, then it will restart and say EFI shell version 2.31, cannot find required map name. It also used to say select proper disk driver and press any key. I did a health check and some bad sectors were found and couldn't be repaired. Can anyone help?

Hi there Isaacwidnall,

Do you have important data stored on the drive? In case you do, you can either try to access it with some data recovery tool for DOS mode(such as the Ubuntu Live CD) or take out the drive, attach it to a working system as a secondary drive and access it with a Win based data recovery tool.

Once you've done that, you can do the same with a testing tool. How many bad sectors does the HDD have? How did you perform the health check?

I believe you can try to run some startup repair. Yet, if the drive is failing, you will need to replace it.

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)

Thanks d know wd, I have recovered all of the important data on it. It only started to happen after install the windows 10 update 1607 which is strange and I cant find out how many bad sectors it has because it will bluescreen in the middle of the process.
