HDD fell (inside the bag down to the floor)

Okay, I'm quite pissed with what happened. I bought a second hand HDD (100% health and perf when I tested it from the previous owner's pc) and when I came home, it dropped to 7%. Not sure of the reason why but my hdd fell while in the bag when me and my partner went out for pizza. My bag was padded by the way. It was inside the laptop sleeve of my herschel bag

Question is, does the health decrease when dropped? The last time i dropped my hdd, it died with the tick of death

Of course physical damage will decrease health! Basically you need to learn to stop carrying HDDs around and leaving them where they can be damaged. If you need large carry capacity for some reason, invest in an SSD with external enclosure, you can usually get 500GB drives for ~200. Those won't break from getting dropped a bit

Yep, for drives that need to be carried around, SSD in a third-party enclosure is the obvious choice.

Lesson learned. However, I did open up the HDD and was able to find a chip of plastic sticking on the disc. After removing it, health went up to 27%. Ugh thanks
