I currently have WD 1Tb HDD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339) I have been wanting to record gameplay for fun but when i start up Fraps my HDD gets to 100% and the recording becomes glitchy. I'm wondering if getting a separate HDD to record to will solve the problem or not. Additionally when i'm running the game alone i hover around 1-5% usage on the HDD so i'm hesitant to buy another one for fear of getting the same result. The HDD I am looking at getting is the WD 1TB Black (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236625)
Thanks

Hey there, Traffics!

Unfortunately, it's no wonder why the recording becomes glitchy. WD Blue is not designed for such heavy workload as gameplay recording.
The WD Black on the other hand shouldn't cause you such issues.
I know that it is confusing because the 1TB versions of both drives overlap in specs, but if you put them together side-by-side the WD Black should out-perform the WD Blue. This is because the WD Black is specifically designed for gaming and demanding applications. It also has a dual-core processor and is tested in high performance systems. Another plus is the 5-year warranty.
