HDD - HD Tune Pro Errors

Hey, so recently I've done a clean install of windows onto a smallish SSD, but have all my games stored on my old, reformatted HDD. Up until now everything was fine but for the past few days I've had issues running games, where they would get stuck on loading screens. The games would still be running (on mmo's for example I'm still getting messages through while the game constantly tries to load a new area). It's been happening on a few games so I don't think its software related, they've all ran fine before now!

This led me to check the state of my HDD, I've downloaded HD Tune Pro, and its coming up with some errors; namely the interface CRC error count is sitting at around 840 communication errors, and I am getting damaged blocks popping up when I do an error scan. The scan speed also started off at 200MB/s, which has now dropped to 2MB/s.

Any ideas whats going on? damaged cables? failing HDD? any helps appreciated!

Confirm possible drive failure (imminent failure) by testing it with drive maker's diagnostic app:

The interface CRC error count usually indicates that there is a miscommunication between the HDD and the southbridge (host), so I'd strongly recommend you to check the connections inside your PC and make sure that the HDD is properly mounted. You should, however, make a full backup of the data stored on it somewhere off-site before proceeding with the troubleshooting!
Once you have your files safe and sound, try swapping the SATA cable and the SATA port where the drive is connected to. Afterwards, run the HDD diagnostic tests again and see if the values and the same poor performance would occur. It's also highly recommended to run the HDD manufacturer's brand-specific diagnostic tool as well and check the health/SMART results from there as well.
