HDD health test failed at first, then passed?!

Hey guys!

I have an HDD here that at first failed the extended test with WD Lifeguard Diagnostic but now it passes. :??: I'm confused about this and was unable to find an answer. I hope you've got a good explanation for me. :)

Details to the problem:
I have a convertible / multimode notebook Medion P2212T. The HDD in the base unit is an HGST HTS545050A7E680 (Travelstar Z5K500 series). A health test with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic produced these results:

QUICK TEST: PASS

EXTENTED TEST: FAIL
Test Error Code: 08-Too many bad sectors detected.

Due to the failed test and loads of other problems with the device I sent it in for repair and I got it back yesterday. To my surprise the model and serial numbers of the HDD are the same as before the repair. Obviously the HDD wasn't replaced.
So I checked it again with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic. Here's the result:

EXTENDED TEST: PASS :ouch:

I couldn't believe it and ran the test again – same result.

Could it be that the extended test before the repair didn't actually fail because of the HDD but because another part was faulty? I thought the error code was unambiguous (HDD faulty)?!
Some part was actually replaced – no clue which one though; the repair report is very vague.

Regarding the HDD I had the following symptoms before repair:

    1. HDD was often not recognised when the tablet unit was connected to the base unit.

    2. If it was recognised it often didn't show up in the file explorer.

    3. If it did show up I often couldn't access it (loading forever).

    4. When copying files from the HDD the transfer speed dropped to 0 after a few seconds.

So the big question is: Is this drive faulty or not? I hope you guys can shed some light. Looking forward to your opinions.

Thank you! :)

Here's a CrystalDiskInfo test result:

Unfortunately I have no clue how to interpret the values but seeing as it says "Health Status Good" I guess it's alright. But those are just the SMART values. That's exactly what the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic "Quick Test" checks. And that was passed before the repair. It was just the "Extended Test" that failed. :??:

Any ideas?
