Hello

I have a very big problem with my new HDD that I bought to use as a second hard drive in my new laptop. I have just bought Lenovo G510 with i5-4210M CPU, 8 Gb of ram and 256 SDD hard drive. My idea was to add additional 1 TB HDD drve into DVD slot using HDD caddy adapter (SATA3) - and there is the problem. My 1TB HDD is not wisible under Window 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I can not see it in "Control Panel/Device Manager" or under "Disk Drives" . I have already formatted it under Windows XP (I used FAT32, two partitions). Funny thing is that my disk (partitions) are visible wheen:
- I user some Linux pendrive live version - I can see both partitions
- I start BIOS - I can see two phisical hard drives!
- I connect my HDD caddy with a SATA3/USB cable to my laptop!! I am able to see my partitions and data on them. Here is picture how it look like https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1RO3j_NgAGnUnRXaUE0LUtlZm8/view

I have already tried to instal hipset drivers from Lenovo page, and from Intel page... neither worked. I have no idea what else can I do. I know that is should work, but somehow in my case it does not. BTW I am using Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000 1TB as my second HDD.

Please help me...

Hi

I really do not think it is a problem, since it works well under Linux. I also saw many posts online people did this same here is even video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzTZWsH_hSQ
What do you mean with model ? I have this one: Lenovo G510, i5-4210M/8GB/240/DVD-RW

Can anyone please help me with this?? I honestly have no idea what else can I do. I also have tried formatting the HDD under Win7 conected with SATA/USB cable and use NTFS this time. Still nothing... please anyone....

I have the same problem on lenovo g510 with i7 4700mq, the factory by default had windows 8.1 installed. I replaced the hdd with an ssd and installed windows 7 sp1 64 bit. Then i tried to use the hdd with an hdd caddy and the result was that when i start bios everything is shown up but windows don't recognize the second hdd (already ntfs formatted). can anyone provide a solution?
