recently windows came up with an error message saying it detected a problem with my HDD and I should back up my files because it may fail soon.

after several attempts at running chkdsk, it was hanging up at verifying the uns journal, it completed but there is no report in the event viewer.

I downloaded several different programs to try to run the chkdsk but got no where with it. I was able to get the s.m.a.r.t. Data from the HDD and it had one critical and three warnings.

I finally gave up and attempted to back up my data like it suggested but after the progress bar filled I got an error saying it couldn't complete and I should run chkdsk to try to fix it.

what I wish to know is if there is any way I can save the HDD and not be forced to replace it.
