I have a problem with my "old" Hard Disk. It is saying that I need to format it but it has data on it. It was working in my old computer. And I wanted to copy the data to my new computer but after I putted it in my external HDD reader it says that I need to format it. I can see it in the disk management as primary partition but it has no partition type. I cannot defrag it or something. Do you know a way to save my HDD, cause almost all my data is on it.

I have used Recuva in the past and it worked... http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Nothing is guaranteed at 100% accuracy - any writing you do to the drive can overwrite files....If the contents are really important, you will need to pay a data recovery house to get the data back (they are quite expensive). If you try something and it overwrites the data - it could be gone permanently....

It really depends upon what is causing the drive to be unreadable as to how easily things can be recovered. If it is related to the partition information, Recuva can recover the contents. If it is hardware related, the only reliable way to recover the data is to have a data recovery house do it. They will have a clean room and can disassemble the...

I have installed a Linux and the partition has the text: IMSM RAID Member (I didn know that it was raid)? You know a way to recover? Because I had 2 drivers and 1 mounted as unallocated space so I had to make a new volume.... I hope it can be recover!
