I unplugged my HDD to put into a friends computer to transfer some files and when I unplugged it out of his PC and back into mine, the windows logo screen came up and the computer shut down. Then, I pressed the power button again and rebooted it and now I can't access certain folders and files like with pictures and music.I have tried replugging my hdd several times but noting. I can only access control panel by right clicking the windows logo (running on windows 8.1) and hitting programs and features then going back

Hey there, jrxelite203!

I'd recommend you to try taking ownership of your internal hdd and then try troubleshooting and checking up on its health and SMART data using the manufacturer's HDD diagnostic tool.
Here's a guide about Taking Ownership for Win 8/8.1: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2808-take-ownership-file-folder-drive-registry-key-windows-8-a.html
As for the diagnostic utility, you should be able to find on your HDD manufacturer's website.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes!
Hope this helps you, though! :)

I can download something but not install it. Crystal Disk said it was at good health but it did have an error while installing it so I'm not too sure about it. I can access the files and folders that I copied over from my friend's PC but I can't access my own. Also, I can run programs without a problem.
