i am using asus maximus vii hero mobo.but ever since i started my computer hdd WD Blue 1 TB is not detected by my system.everything else is working fine including my odd and ssd which is samsung 850 pro 128gb(it's my boot drive).any idea how to solve it?i have tried connecting it in different sata ports still nothing happened.

Where are you looking for the hdd? If it's not appearing in the BIOS it's probably dead. If it's just not appearing in Windows Explorer it may just need to be formatted. You can format it from the disk management utility. In Windows 7 right-click Computer in the start menu and click "manage" then open the disk management section. In 8 or 8.1 there's a menu that appears when you right-click in the very bottom right-hand corner that includes a link to disk management. Right-click the drive and select "new simple volume."

it's not appearing even i the bios.i have checked everywhere but no sign of it.if it's dead then what should i do??

i don't know.there is a slight vibration but i can't tell u if it's due to the hdd or the whole system

not the drive's problem the quick swap ports of my case(corsair air 540)was either dead or it's sata ports are not compatible with my mobo i removed them and installed them manually and it's working perfectly now
