Since the past few days my pc keeps BSOD'ing with the following msg "Kernel data inpage error" . When it reboots , another message pops up on the screen , this time it says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media" this problem is driving me crazy as i cannot access my files! I need help ASAP . if left for a day , my pc will boot up as normal , the hdd is also detected , but after a few hours , it will get a bsod and the process will repeat itself . I've ran a lot of tests liek WD Diagnostics and CrystalDiskInfo . All showed my hdd is in good health . I've also done the memory test(the diagnostics one) numerous times and the results always show that no problems were detected . Pls help

Welcome to the community, Bingo456!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your HDD detection issues!:( I'd strongly recommend you to try using a different SATA cable with the drive and also try plugging it into a different SATA port on the motherboard. I think the problem is somewhere in the connections, rather than the HDD itself since it passes the diagnostic tests. I'd suggest you to try resolving the issue by resetting BIOS using one of the methods listed here: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
Keep in mind that the procedure will get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, so you'd need to re-configure them after the reset.
Another thing you should do is check your motherboard manufacturer's website for any updates on the SATA controller drivers and the BIOS version. You might need to update them.

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting. Hope this helps! :)

I've reset the BIOS as instructed in the link you posted , but to no avail . I will change the SATA cables as soon as i can! Thanks for the fast response ! One thing though , if i do change the sata cables and the problem still persists , what do u think is the cause of the problem? Oh yes , i forgot to mention , but when the pc reboots and i continue my regular activities , the system freezes . Could this be a SATA related problem? Sorry if i sound foolish , my knowledge on computers is really bad . Thanks

Change the SATA cable and the SATA ports, and make sure you have updated the drivers for the SATA controller as well. If you have access to another computer, try plugging the HDD there. If it gets recognized without any issues there, then the source of the problem is in the motherboard.
If the HDD is still having trouble staying connected in the other PC as well, then it's most definitely the source for all your troubles.

Don't worry, just keep me posted with the troubleshooting!
We'll get to the bottom of this! :)
