Hdd not performing well

Hey guys !

I own a Seagate Barracuda 500GB / 7200RPM / SATA 6GB/s / 16MB Cache (ST500DMOO2) hard drive , wich is 4 months old , installed in a silent type case , with a fan right next to it . It can only read/write 50MB/s for some odd reason , while a similar 1TB I own achieves a WAPPING 172MB/s . Please keep in mind that I know a thing or two about things like that because I have been systematicly optimizing my systems hdd's for a year now . So , why is it performing so weakly ?

It's a Seagate and probably dying a slow miserable death, time to dig out Seatools and investigate.

I suppose you have done the logical things like swap sata cable, power cable and sata port on motherboard, sacrifice a small goat to Hades?

( lol epic stig ) Actually the drive is new ! And no , I havent done anything like swaping cables .

Are you sure vazele that your hard disk drive is not full? Because hard disks slow down a lot when you fill them with data. A hard disk that is almost full is very very slow.

Seatools and then RMA, smells like its dying to me and no, that isn't the goat being BBQ'd.
