One year ago I bought the 1TB Seagate 1000DX001 SSHD and had no problems since yesterday. While I was watching a movie, which was on the drive I mentioned it suddenly stopped and there was also no responsiveness from windows, so I had to restart the computer. I thought that might do it, but instead my drive wasn't recognised anymore by BIOS. My other 2 SSDs were working just fine, so I tried using the power and sata cables from one of the ssds on the sshd, but didn't fix it. I reseted BIOS, and tried using only this drive without any nonessential parts (left only ram and cpu), and the problem persisted. I got an ASRock Z77 Extreme4 and the error displayed at the boot is A2, then after a few seconds an A9. I've heard about this error at some other people too and could be software error, since I can feel it spinning inside. If I can't fix this on my own, do you think I can keep my data if repairs are covered in warranty or they will just send me a new one?

Try resetting your CMOS, Unplug all power to your PC, unplug your PSU take the small battery out of your MOBO, the hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge and residual electricity, then plug everything back in pop in your battery beforehand and try to boot, Use sata port 0. if it is still not recognized see if you can find it using the command prompt, by typing diskpart, followed by list disk

Hi there GoldenSW,

In case the drive is not recognized by BIOS, you will not be able to access it with software tools. Unfortunately, it has most probably failed. Yet, it will not hurt to attach it to another system.
In case you RMA it, you will get another drive. If the data stored on it is really important, you will need to contact a data recovery company.
