I know this has been asked many times and I have tried many suggested solutions that did not work. So, I have a WD internal HDD 500gb with Ubuntu OS from another pc and installed into my desktop (It was working fine). Shows up in device manager and in Disk Management but no drive letter assigned.

Right clicked to bring up options and all are dimmed except for “delete volume” and “help”.

I want to reformat this disk and use for data. Desktop running win 10 pro. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Unix linux format partitions do not get drive letters or show up. In windows explorer unless you add a special device driver.
Paragon software and a few other companies make a free and extra featured pay for linux ext to windows device driver

If you want to re use disk under windows then from Disk Management remove partition (delete volume) then re partition and re format as NT fs
