I have an 500GB seagate PC hard disk.I searched web to connect my HDD with laptop, then I bought an USB 3.0 to 22 pin SATA connector and connected HDD with laptop,but it shows insert disk into drive.what to do?

You probably mean 500GB. Do you have the part number for it?

That drive will probably need actual power from the wall.

If this is a 3.5" HDD, you need a USB-SATA dock. Not just the cable you bought. USB does not supply enough power to run that drive.

Minor point, Not a Power (wattage) issue, USB 2/3 does not supply +12V. USB only provides +5V.
