HDD of Old Laptop - need files

Is it possible to take my harrddrive from my old laptop and put it in my PC in order to transfer all the files as the old laptop is very slow and password is not able to be remembered?

What password cannot be remembered? If Windows EFS was involved in that laptop, recovery is going to be complicated.
